Manuel Rodríguez Fernández was born in 1934 in Dúdar, Granada, into a family dedicated to agriculture. However, from a young age he showed an interest in mining, starting to work as an operator in the quarries of the Paraje Natural de Puerto Blanco, in Beas de Granada and Quéntar. In the fifties, together with his friend and partner José Rodríguez Única, he began to exploit small deposits in an artisanal way during his free time, focusing on obtaining dolomitic materials for the manufacture of glass. These humble beginnings laid the foundations of his entrepreneurial vision, characterized by perseverance and effort.
Manuel Rodríguez Fernández, together with his partner and friend, made their first investment in an operation located in the Puerto Blanco Natural Park. This operation, registered in Manuel’s name, was mainly destined to the production of materials for the vitrified industry. Around the same time, “Dologran” was founded with other partners, a company focused on the crushing of ornamental rocks of different colors. However, they faced numerous challenges and setbacks, overcoming each setback with perseverance and determination. At that time, due to the lack of means and the large investments needed in mining, each project was a real challenge.
After the bankruptcy of “Dologran”, both partners decided to redouble their efforts and founded Triturados Puerto Blanco, a new project that represented a business rebirth, taking the name of the place Puerto Blanco, where the first exploitation “María José” was located. With a more solid vision and learning from past challenges, Triturados Puerto Blanco laid the foundations to become a reference in the mining sector.
Following the death of Manuel Rodríguez Fernández in 1986, his eldest son, Manuel Rodríguez Garrido, assumed leadership of the company. This transition marked the beginning of a new stage in which the founder’s sons consolidated the family legacy, modernizing processes and expanding markets.
After the merger of two farms in Puerto Blanco, Dolomar was founded with the participation of new partners, as a complementary project aimed at supplying dolomite for the manufacture of terrazzo.
The Rodríguez Garrido brothers acquired all the shares of Triturados Puerto Blanco, thus becoming the sole partners of the company.
Dolomar was absorbed by Triturados Puerto Blanco, marking a key milestone in the consolidation of the company. This integration allowed redirecting efforts and resources towards strengthening Triturados Puerto Blanco as the main “brand”, focusing on its growth and leadership in the sector.
Triturados Puerto Blanco made a significant investment in a treatment plant equipped with advanced technology, equipped with fully automated and computerized processes. This investment marked the beginning of a new stage for the company, reaffirming its consolidation as a reference in the production of high purity dolomite and expanding its presence in both domestic and international markets.
Over the last decade, our facilities have undergone continuous investments to adapt to market demands and optimize production processes, integrating the best available techniques. These improvements have completely transformed our extraction and production system, implementing a process based on selective mining, which guarantees the homogeneity of the final product in terms of chemical composition, while maximizing the use of our resources.

This constant effort has allowed Triturados Puerto Blanco to consolidate its global presence, commercializing dolomite in practically all international markets.
Thanks to the absence of heavy minerals, the dolomite extracted by Triturados Puerto Blanco is ideal for the manufacture of extra-clear or ultra-clear flat glass.
