During the recent spell of heavy rain and the draining of the Quéntar reservoir, the municipality of Dúdar (Granada) was severely affected by the damage caused to its access roads.
The main road eventually collapsed after being eroded by water, which gradually undermined its foundations until it disappeared. At the same time, the only alternative route was blocked by landslides that had swept onto the carriageway and deposited large amounts of debris on the road, leaving it completely closed to traffic and the town virtually cut off.
In light of this situation, the authorities requested assistance from Triturados Puerto Blanco, who responded immediately. Using one of the company’s wheel loaders, they carried out clearance work and opened up a passageway, allowing the Military Emergency Unit (UME) and other personnel to gain access, thereby facilitating the evacuation of local residents.
This initiative is not part of the company’s usual activities. However, it was a one-off initiative of which all of us at Triturados Puerto Blanco are very proud.
Far from seeking the limelight, we simply want to say that we have been proud to be able to help at a time like this, contributing our efforts when they were truly needed.
On 9 March, the president of the Provincial Council of Granada, Francisco Rodríguez Guerrero, publicly expressed his gratitude for this collaboration.
We would also like to thank all the teams, companies and public authorities that took part in this joint initiative.
